Baby Julia is Here!

My brother John and his wife Abby had their sweet baby girl today. John called my mom at 2 am to say they were on their way to the hospital, and she was born sometime before noon. Not bad. She was a good weight at just over 7 pounds and quite tall at 21.5 inches long. It was a great day for this to happen because we were headed into "town" anyway to help out Rachel and Jeff with fixing up their new home...so along with Granny Ruthie, Mzee and Uncle Daniel we got to celebrate the new grandbaby all together. Since John was obviously not immediately available with news, his good friend Jeremy (who happened to be up there on business) called my mom from just outside the delivery room door saying "I hear a baby crying, and since it doesn't sound like John I'm guessing it's Julia". Thanks Jeremy...we were dying for some news!!! How exciting. Isn't she beautiful? To celebrate, Rachel and Jeff surprised us with some Baskin Robbins Birthday Cake saying "Happy Bday Julia" (Which is so special to all of us since we all got to help when John asked Abby to marry him with a Baskin Robbins cake....AWWW!) We also called John and sang Happy Birthday to Julia as only the Dudu family can...any of you who have been to one of our birthday celebrations will understand....hopefully she won't be scarred for life...if John ever lets her hear it! :)
Jack also had a fun day today. He got to go see one of his great-grandmas and hang out a lot with Granny Ruthie so that Mommie could help paint some super cute rooms (shagreen and krypton were the paint colors...can you guess which one is for the "man cave?") and Daddy got to tear down a wall and do various other construction jobs...very therapeutic after a hectic week. Here is Jack trying on some safety goggles at the "work site" doesn't he look ready to work!?
